Yoon Tae-hwa relives the box-tent runaway night at her uncle's door
Yoon Tae-hwa opens up on Miss & Mister Trot about her rebellious school years, a cardboard-box sleepout, and memories of her grandmother.
Adolescence When Being Outside School Felt More Comfortable
In a video from the 'Band Live Yoon Tae-hwa Edition' on the YouTube channel 'Miss & Mister Trot,' singer Yoon Tae-hwa revealed stories about her wandering adolescence and her family.

Yoon Tae-hwa disclosed that she frequently left school early during her student years because she felt suffocated by school life. She shared her feelings at the time, noting that as soon as she stepped through the school gates after receiving permission to leave early due to being sick, her pain would vanish, as she felt trapped within the space of the school.
Escaping to Uncle's House by Setting Up a Box Tent
A specific anecdote revealing her rebellious spirit during adolescence was also introduced. When her grandmother refused to let her sleep over at a friend's house, citing safety concerns, Yoon Tae-hwa headed to her uncle's house with her younger sibling.
At the time, Yoon Tae-hwa unfolded TV boxes and refrigerator boxes to set them up like a tent in front of the entrance door and spent the night inside. She recalled the episode, remembering how she made eye contact with her grandmother in front of the entrance around 8 a.m. the next morning.
Memories of Grandmother and 'National Singing Contest'
Special memories with her grandmother were also mentioned. Her grandmother, who usually enjoyed watching 'National Singing Contest,' even visited the site when Yoon Tae-hwa appeared on the program during her college years. She recalled how her grandmother shed tears when Yoon Tae-hwa received the Excellence Award.
Yoon Tae-hwa expressed her longing for her late grandmother. Along with the recollection that they likely got along well because their personalities were similar, she shared her wish that if her grandmother were still alive, she would have wanted to learn how to cook to treat her better. She continued by revealing the motivation behind her desire to become the singer her grandmother wanted her to be.
