Returning to the Venice Competition After 24 Years

Director Lee Chang-dong's new film, 'Possible Love,' has been invited to the competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. This marks Lee's first entry into the Venice competition in 24 years since 'Oasis' in 2002. With this invitation, 'Possible Love' becomes the 12th Korean film to enter the Venice competition section.

The Venice International Film Festival competition is the main section where films compete for the top prize, the Golden Lion. This year's festival will be held from September 2 to 12.

A Star-Studded Lineup Featuring Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung Gu, Zo In Sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong

'Possible Love' tells the story of two couples: a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary director and her husband. The film depicts the process through which the two couples, who meet through the medium of documentary production, confront their differing life trajectories and inner desires.

The cast includes actors Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung Gu, Zo In Sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong. Director Lee Chang-dong and Jeon Do-yeon reunite following 'Secret Sunshine,' while Sul Kyung Gu works with the director once again following 'Peppermint Candy' and 'Oasis.' Fine House Film is in charge of production, with Netflix overseeing investment and the global release.

Domestic Theatrical Release in Q3 and Netflix Release in Q4

'Possible Love' previously confirmed its global competitiveness after being invited to the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival. Following its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, the film is scheduled to be distributed worldwide via Netflix.

The domestic release schedule begins with a theatrical run during the third quarter, followed by a release on Netflix in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, director Koreeda Hirokazu's 'Look Back' will meet audiences in Korean theaters in October, and the reunion documentary of Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, 'Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger,' will be released in September.
